This Saturday (Sept. 8), the Des Moines Farmers Market will be holding its annual Kids Back to School/Safety Day.
The City of Des Moines Parks & Recreation department will have activities for kids and will be promoting their before & after school programs, pre-school, and their classes/activities.
The Des Moines Area Food Bank will have a booth on their backpack food for the weekend program. Doctor Bonnie Verhunce of Vitality Chiropractic (market sponsor) will have demonstrations on backpack safety.
South King Fire & Rescue and the Des Moines Police Department will also be on hand to promote kids safety.

What a fantastic year the market is having,” said Wayne Corey, President of the Board of Directors “The market board of directors would like to thank all of the patrons, vendors, sponsors and volunteers for their support this season. After last Saturday’s biggest single sales day ever, the market sales have surpassed last year’s total and we still have two months to go.”
