National Weather Service Mentions ‘S’ Word in Latest Forecast

Just when we’re still assessing Monday morning’s major windstorm/high tide surge comes news that the National Weather Service is mentioning the ‘S’ word in their predictions, saying we may see snow showers late tonight, Tuesday and perhaps even Wednesday morning.

“Snow level 700 feet lowering to 100 feet,” say the Weather Peeps about tonight. “Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.”

Here’s the latest 7-day forecast [1]:

This Afternoon: Scattered showers. Partly sunny, with a high near 42. Breezy, with a south southwest wind around 23 mph, with gusts as high as 34 mph. Chance of precipitation is 50%.

Tonight: A chance of rain showers before 10pm, then a chance of rain and snow showers between 10pm and 4am, then a chance of snow showers after 4am. Snow level 700 feet lowering to 100 feet. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 35. Southwest wind around 11 mph. Chance of precipitation is 40%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday: A chance of snow showers before 10am, then a chance of rain showers after 4pm. Snow level 0 feet rising to 500 feet. Partly sunny, with a high near 41. South southwest wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 30%. New snow accumulation of less than a half inch possible.

Tuesday Night: A chance of rain before 10pm, then snow, possibly mixed with rain. Snow level 200 feet. Low around 37. South wind around 10 mph. Chance of precipitation is 80%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday: Rain and snow, becoming all rain after 10am. Snow level 100 feet rising to 1100 feet. High near 43. South wind 8 to 17 mph, with gusts as high as 21 mph. Chance of precipitation is 100%. Little or no snow accumulation expected.

Wednesday: Night Rain. Low around 37. Chance of precipitation is 100%.

Thursday: A 50 percent chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.

Thursday Night: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 36.

Friday: A chance of showers. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 42.

Friday Night: Showers likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Saturday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 43.

Saturday Night: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a low around 38.

Sunday: Rain likely. Mostly cloudy, with a high near 44.
