The Des Moines United Methodist Church is presenting “Welcome Christmas!” a musical celebration with the Boeing Employees Choir, starting at 7 p.m. on Saturday, Dec. 10.
This event will include a Gift Basket Silent Auction.
Food Bank donations are encouraged.
Music will be a mix of holiday favorites from traditional to contemporary. The presentation is another in a series of community concerts being sponsored by the Des Moines UMC. The series is intended to share the breadth and depth of musical diversity from around the region.
The Boeing Employees Choir has been performing for nearly 70 years. They say, “We work for Boeing. We sing for our friends,” referring to themselves as ambassadors of good will for Boeing through the universal language of music. The choir’s repertoire is broad, ranging from Broadway to Bach. It is directed by Dr. David Chrysler and accompanied by Danete O’Neal.
Another feature of the evening will be a Gift Basket Silent Auction just prior to the concert. Doors will be open at 5:45 pm to allow for checking out the baskets, placing your bid(s) and making sure your favorite basket goes home with you. Gift baskets themes range from babies to a sail boat excursion for up to four people with dinner. There will be something for nearly everyone on your Christmas list! Winners of the Silent Auction will be announced the same evening.
In the Spirit of Christmas, you are invited to bring a non-perishable food item for the Des Moines Area Food Bank. This time of year is especially difficult for families in need; the Food Bank is supporting hundreds of area families each month, so please help the Food Bank help our neighbors.
