The Washington State Patrol is reporting that a 20-year old Des Moines woman was killed, and her three teenage passengers injured in a rollover crash on I-5 in Tukwila Saturday night (Nov. 26).
Troopers say that Katerina M. Valavala, 20, of Des Moines, died in the one-vehicle crash around 9:15 p.m. Saturday night on I-5 just north of SR-518.
Police say that Valavala was driving a 2004 Mitsubishi Montero when she missed an exit. She apparently then attempted to make a quick turn to the right and hit a curb, causing the vehicle to rollover. The car was totaled.
None of the passengers were apparently wearing seatbelts, according to the WSP.
Drugs or alcohol were not factors in the crash, they add.
Three passengers were injured and taken to Harborview Medical Center in Seattle:
- Marcia T. Foalima, 17, of Des Moines
- Christina Valavala, 16, of Des Moines
- El-Desicca P. Lefiti, 17, of Des Moines
The Washington State Patrol is still investigating.
