The Des Moines Police Department on Friday (Nov. 18) released screengrabs from surveillance videos of a ‘person of interest’ and two suspect vehicles taken at the Shell Station located at 29600 block of Pacific Hwy South 30 minutes prior to the shooting of Jayme Thomas in Redondo on Nov. 5th.
As many of our Readers are aware, on Nov. 5, 2011, at 2:40 a.m., Jayme Thomas was shot and killed as she sat in the backseat of a vehicle in the 800 block of Redondo Way South.
Police also located and identified a 24-year old male victim who had been shot and sustained non-life threatening injuries. The male victim was transported to Harborview Medical Center where he was treated and eventually released. The male victim is cooperating with the investigation, but at this time does not want his identity released.
Police are requesting the public’s help in identifying a ‘person of interest’ in the photos below, people associated with the vehicles, or anybody with information in regards to murder of Thomas to contact the Des Moines Police Department.
Here are photos of the ‘person of interest,’ described as an Asian or Native American Male, early 20’s, long ponytail (mid-back), wearing Express jacket and yellow “L-A” hat:
“The Des Moines Police Department has been diligently following up on crime tips, processing evidence, interviewing witnesses, and reviewing surveillance video from various businesses within the Redondo Beach area,” reads a statement.
Below are photos of suspect vehicles, described as
- Vehicle 1: 1990-1995, black Honda Civic 2 door with flat gray front & rear bumpers, and black & chrome after market rims.
- Vehicle 2: Lowered 1990-1995, flat black or primer black Honda Civic 2 door with black spoke rims, large chrome muffler, no front license plate, tinted rear windows, and has a poor quality body work near the rear driver’s side wheel well.
Here are updated suspect descriptions:
- Suspect 1: Asian Male, early 20’s, 5-07 tall, stocky build, with short or shaved hair.
- Suspect 2: Black male, early 20’s, 5-08 tall, medium build, with short black hair.

They say 2 suspects. Short/bald head. So why is the picture showing someone with a ponytail?

That looks like a Peugeot logo on that jacket. Who do you know that drives a Peugeot or Renault vehicle?
Clarification: There’s a reason he is wearing a Peugeot jacket. Those aren’t just sold at every store. There’s a 90% chance there’s a connection he knows someone that is involved with those vehicles.
im pretty sure thomas is right i think thats the peugeot logo, the express lions head is facing backwards where the peugeot head is foreward, it looks like the head on the jacket is foreward to me.
