The Des Moines Police Department announced Wednesday (May 4) that it is conducting an investigation into a “digital recording of sexual activity between minors.”
The incident occurred Friday night (April 29) at a drinking party in a North Hill residence.
According to police:
A 17-year old male and a 15-year old female engaged in consensual sexual activity in the presence of numerous other party attendees.
Cell phones were present and it has been confirmed that at least one digital recording had been created.
Most of those involved attend high school together in Des Moines
Police say that an Officer assigned to the school in question initiated an investigation Tuesday afternoon after school administration brought the matter to the officer’s attention. Interviews are being conducted and three cell phones have been confiscated by police to be reviewed for video content.
Once the initial investigation is completed the report will be forwarded to the King County Prosecutors Office to determine whether or not any of the depictions are a violation of state law.
